The use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), also known as drones, is increasing in both the military, civilian and commercial sectors but there are serious implications the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) present to law enforcement and national security.

Join IFMA and ASIS to hear about the promise and threat of UAVs in the 21st century.

About Detective Marc O’Mara

Detective Marc O’Mara CT State Police Counter Terrorism Unit / CT Intelligence Center Marc O’Mara, a veteran Connecticut law enforcement professional with 20 years’ experience, began his career with the Naugatuck Police Department where he worked patrol, community policing, and became a member of the Emergency Response Team. In 2004, Marc joined the Connecticut State Police and during his tenure at Troop a Southbury, he was named Connecticut’s Trooper of the Year. Now assigned to the Counter Terrorism Unit, Marc identified the serious implications the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) present to law enforcement and national security as evident by the FAA’s ever-evolving regulations concerning the safe use of UAVs in National Airspace. Consequently, Marc studied all aspects of UAV technology and the myriad of legal issues. Almost daily, he provides briefings to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, as well as private sector partners, about the promise and threat of UAVs in the 21st century. His knowledge has been used to help craft Connecticut’s own UAV laws.

Meeting Price Schedule

Meeting Dues will be $30 for IFMA Westchester / Hudson Valley Members and $60 for Non Members.

All Non Members are required to pay the Non Member rate of $60 for attending any meeting. Anyone who attends as a “guest” is required to pay the Non Member rate. Members of other IFMA Chapters are required to pay the Non Member Rate.

Registration and Payment is due before or at the meeting. We accept cash, checks and credit cards.

The January Meeting is a Welcome New Members Breakfast. Members who have joined the Chapter in the previous Calendar year are welcome to attend at no charge. The rate for Non Members who have not joined IFMA prior to the meeting will be $60. “Returning” members are not considered new members.

Non Members are permitted to attend a total of two meetings before chapter membership is required. The first meeting is free, the second meeting is charged at the Non Member rate.

Certain meetings may be special event meetings and will be priced differently.

All “No Shows” who are confirmed to attend will be invoiced for the event. Any cancellations less than 24 hours from the event will not receive a refund or credit.
