October 18 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Arts WestchesterWhite Plains’ first skyscraper was built in 1929. Standing 122 feet (nine stories) tall, the Peoples National Bank & Trust Company building at 31 Mamaroneck Avenue opened for business November 25, 1929 and was lauded as “an accomplishment of building ingenuity, architecture and materials.

In 1998 ArtsWestchester purchased the building from Chase Manhattan Bank and major renovations began in 2003.

Hear about the highlights, challenges and surprises encountered from John Sullivan, whose firm, Sullivan Architecture, led the renovation. Tour the historic space and enjoy the art exhibition, “Brick by Brick: The Erie Canal & the Building Boom.”
